This project presents a motion-designed event poster created for the Ben Platt Reverie Tour concert at George Mason University. The goal was to create a comprehensive promotional piece that functioned both as a static print and as an immersive animated experience when viewed through the Artivive app. The final design blends expressive typography, motion graphics, and layered visual elements to capture the energy of the tour while demonstrating how augmented reality and motion graphics can elevate traditional event advertising.

Motion Design, George Mason University
The project began with digital concept sketches and storyboards exploring two visual directions for the poster, each paired with early motion ideas. These drafts focused on how typography, imagery, and rhythm could work together in both static and animated formats, establishing the emotional tone and visual flow before committing to a final direction.
Initial Digital Drafts & Storyboards
Static Poster Development
After evaluating both concepts, the stronger direction was selected and developed into a fully realized static poster design. This phase focused on refining composition, hierarchy, and typography to create a visually compelling piece that could stand on its own, ensuring the design communicated clearly before motion was introduced.
Motion Development
Early motion tests were then created to block out the primary animation patterns and transitions. These rough passes focused on general movement timing and layering to establish the overall flow of the piece, leaving finer details such as easing, secondary motion, and pacing to be refined in later stages.
The final animated poster brings the design to life through refined motion, optimized timing, and smooth transitions. Final adjustments to the static layout were combined with fully developed animation to create a cohesive experience that enhances the emotional tone of the tour. When viewed through the Artivive app, the poster transitions from static to motion, transforming traditional event promotion into an engaging visual experience.
